WINE ADVOCATE: 6 LABELS OVER 90 POINTS!
Terredora celebrates 6 scores over 90 points from the magazine of Robert Parker Jr, Wine Advocate, reviewed by the responsible for Italy, Monica Larner.
Our enthusiasm and pride is great for the beautiful reviews written by Monica Larner, a very good taster for Italy of the Wine Advocate.
The positive reviews are always a pleasure, but when they come from Robert Parker they make us even more happy, because the evaluations – in hundredths – of the magazine created in 1978 by the Baltimore lawyer, are considered among the most authoritative in the world of wine and criticism.
For this reason, having at Wine Advcate by Robert Parker a rating above 90/100 for six wines is an exciting thing, that needs to be told.
At the top of the ranking, with 93 points, two of the long-aging Crù Terredora red wines:
Taurasi Fatica Contadina DOCG 2013 and Taurasi Pago dei Fusi DOCG 2012, are so descrebed by Monica Larner:
“This is the top-shelf red from Terredora di Paolo and certainly its most late-term release. From a hot and dry vintage, the 2012 Taurasi Pago dei Fusi is beautifully aged and drinking very nicely at the moment. I see no need to wait further. The bouquet revolves around dried cherry and plum, and there are integrated notes of savory smoke and spice. The wine’s advanced evolution shows with campfire ash and licorice root, and it would be a nice accompaniment to a Neapolitan “è braciol a’ raù” (meat braciole in a ragù).”– Taurasi pago dei Fusi Docg 2012, Monica Larner
“This is a delicate and carefully aged expression of Aglianico from one of the most experienced and influential wine producers of the area. The Terredora di Paolo 2013 Taurasi Fatica Contadina delivers plenty of dark fruit and measured spice, and it also shows a mildly creamy side with white chocolate or yogurt-covered almonds. The mouthfeel is sharp and tight, with good structure and dusty tannins.”– Taurasi Fatica Contadina Docg 2013, Monica Larner
The Taurasi denominations don’t stop here, infact the Fatica Contadina DOCG 2014 is awarded with 91 punti:
“This is an interesting wine that defies the low expectations of this challenging vintage to deliver plenty of unexpected richness and dark fruit. The 2014 Taurasi Fatica Contadina is more concentrated and intense than I would have anticipated, showing deep layers of dark cherry and blackberry. Those aromas are quite smooth. However, the wine takes a different turn in the palate, where it shows some bitterness and textural grittiness that comes with age. I like the nose of this vintage but am less enthusiastic about the mouthfeel. “– Taurasi Fatica Contadina Docg 2014, Monica Larner
Let’s now turn to our whites, we have the advantage of presenting three reviews and scores over 90 points:
Fiano di Avellino DOCG CampoRe 2016 – 92 Points
Fiano di Avellino DOCG CampoRe 2013 – 91 Points
Greco di Tufo DOCG Loggia della Serra 2019 – 91 Points
